Maisie Moo Gifts began in 2012, at a time when I was working in IT management and starting to feel disconnected from the corporate world.

And if you’re wondering where the name Maisie Moo came from… it’s actually quite special to me. Maisie Moo Gifts was named after my first goddaughter, Maisie, who was just a little girl when I started the business. She’s now 19 and at university, which makes me feel very old! It seemed like the perfect name for something that was such a personal and important part of my life.

While in my corporate role, I attended a personal branding training course that completely changed my perspective. Unlike anything I had experienced before, it focused on who you are as a person, rather than simply developing skills for a job. I left that day with a clear realisation that I wanted something different, something more creative, more fulfilling and more aligned with who I am.

It gave me the motivation and confidence to take a different path. I’ve always believed that life is too short for regrets, and I’d rather try something than spend forever wondering “what if?” So, alongside my corporate job, I began a web design course at home. Over the following weeks and months, that naturally evolved into graphic design as I taught myself through online learning, experimentation and plenty of trial and error.

As my skills grew, I started to see a new direction emerging, combining creativity with my background in sales and my business degree from university. It felt like everything I had done up to that point was somehow leading me here. I began exploring online retail, designing and making personalised gifts, and Maisie Moo Gifts slowly grew from a side project into something much more meaningful.

Six months after that initial training course, I reached a turning point. The business had grown to the point where I could no longer balance both roles, so I made the decision to leave my job and step into full-time self-employment.

And I’ve been on quite a journey ever since.

From those first tentative steps in 2012 to the business I have today, Maisie Moo Gifts has grown, evolved and changed along the way, but the heart of it has always stayed the same: creating thoughtful, personal gifts and building something that feels truly mine.
